more Qinghai teachers join Certification program

IMG_9026 IMG_1995 IMG_3500IMG_2132ESEC began its 3rd TIP Teacher Certification program in Qinghai, Huang Zhong this school year. Nearly 70 teachers joined the program, which will run from 2015-2017, if all goes as planned.

This group of teachers attended TIP’s 14-day immersion training in July 2015. They were already confident in their English speaking and ready to begin their new training.

The first training day focused on Diction, Attitude, Learning Environment and Communication skills and standards. Teachers practiced smiling and giving instructions in English by speaking slowly and clearly. They studied right-brained activities and practiced teaching them to others. We watched two teachers show a lesson in order to observe the activities and techniques and compare them to the standards they are studying.

The teachers learned how to evaluate each other in the classroom and how to meet the Teacher Certification standards. Three new Huang Zhong trainers have also joined the training team and will help evaluate the teachers over the next two years.

Rex, the head trainer in Huang Zhong, was excited to offer his new teachers the training and to continue to build the teachers’ competency and ability in their school district. “These are the young teachers and it’s their first time in the classroom. It’s a good chance for them to learn and use the new skills and ideas. They can make their habits to use English and ask their students to speak more English.”

The teachers work together in groups, practiced their English and developed plans for using the new information in the classroom. On teacher said, “I can smile more and I can show my students how to speak English more confidently.”

Over the next several months, they should practice their diction, leaIMG_3517rn some new songs and read some articles. They will be busy! Please lift them up that they can have the strength and joy they need to learn and help their students to learn to learn!

The leaders in Huang Zhong continue to seek ways to improve the learning and teaching. They also want TIP to train their senior schoolteachers, if negotiations are successful. Plans call for returning to the school district in the winter.
